All paddler are required to wear Lifejackets(pfd's) at All Races.
Anyone finishing a race without their lifejacket on will be disqualified.
Flares or Cellphone in a pouch are required at every race.
Leashes are required at every Race
If wind over 25km/hr: Leash + Flares (or Cell Phone) compulsory for all.
If a paddler does not offer assistance to another paddler in distress, they will be disqualified from that race.
Any paddler who fails to give his number to the time keeper, at the end of any race, will be fined R100.
2. Registration
Unregistered Day racers can only Participate in races less than 20km's.
All paddlers must be registered with Canoeing South Africa (CSA).
All competitors will be required to complete a series registration form and pay the required series registration fee.
Once off racing is allowed at R90 per race.
Race Entries will be taken at each event from 1.5 hours before race start. Race entries close 30 Minutes before the stated race start time.
Late entries will not be eligible for prizes but will have their times recorded for series positions.
3. Sponsorship and Branding
Personal Advertising will be permitted as per the Canoe SA personal advertising rule.
Personal Advertising may not clash with any of the series national sponsors as follows: Discovery, Men’s Health, New Balance, Hansa, PowerAde,.
All surf ski’s to display 2 Discovery Logos and 2 Men’s Health Logos provided
Series paddling vests are mandatory for all paddlers at all series races.
Paddlers must display correct CSA numbers on BOTH sides of the surf ski. Incorrect or incomplete numbers will result in disqualification from the race.
4. Starting
A race briefing must take place 5 minutes before the start of the race to confirm the racecourse, safety issues and any other salient facts.
It is the paddler’s responsibility to ensure that he is present at the race briefing and no responsibility will be accepted by the organizers for the competitors who were not present.
False starters will receive a 2 Minute time penalty.
5. Racecourse
Any competitor who does not comply with safety requirements will be disqualified.
Any competitor who does not follow the prescribed racecourse on the day will be disqualified.
Any Competitor who rides the wake of a motorised craft will be disqualified.
Any competitor, who gains unfair advantage through unsportsmanlike behavior, will be disqualified.
6. Finishes
The finish will be between two markers, clearly identified and pointed out to competitors at the briefing i.e. 2 wobblies with flags.
Paddlers must cross the finish line with their craft (doubles includes both paddlers) Paddles do not need to be carried.
The onus is on the paddler to ensure that timekeepers have registered their number.
It is the onus of all competitors to cross the finish line or advise the organisers that they have withdrawn from the event. R100 Fine to any paddler who does not sign in or give in number to the time keepers.
It is the onus of the organisers to institute a search for any competitor who had not crossed the finish line or advised of his withdrawal.
The costs of this search will be borne by the competitor who had withdrawn and not notified the organisers (a helicopter search can costs +/- R5000 per hour).
Craft must be removed from the finish line immediately their number has been recorded.
