Race Days: Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th November 2010.

Day 1 race will not start before 9am to allow for the wind to pick up.

Qualification to Race:

You are required to put your Experience on the Entry Form, as well as your Grade from the Discovery Men's Health Series.

Richard Kohler's sole discretion on the day as to who is allowed to Paddle.

Unfortunately there are no refunds of race fees.

Safety:

The Following Are Required by All Paddlers for Both Days

  1. Lifejacket
  2. Leash
  3. Flares

All Paddlers will receive a Numbered Whistle on a String. The Whistle also has Contact Telephone number on It.

Here are the Whistle Rules

  1. All Paddlers must paddle with the numbered whistle that they receive at race day registration. 
  2. Hand in your Whistle at the end of the race
  3. If you pull out of the race, Call the number on the back of the whistle to inform the race organiser that you have pulled out.

These and other options may be used and or modified.              ± 55km for both days.


Course Conditions:

The weather conditions are typically 20km/h South-West winds, though South-Easter winds up to 40km/h and North-Westerly winds up to 30km/h may prevail over these periods. The water temperatures are typically around 14 deg C. The course has many beaches as well as long stretches of inhospitable rocks. It is intended to be a predominantly downwind race. Therefore the direction of the course, and the course itself may be adapted to achieve a total of 40 to 60km of downwind racing. The exact course and start times will be advertised via sms about 2 hours before on race day.


Classes:

This is a Double and Singles ski race for the following categories:

Open Men Ski-2, Ski-1; Women Ski-2, Ski-1; Mixed-Double Ski-2; Veteran Men Ski-2 , Ski-1(40-49); Masters Men Ski-2(50+).

The first/last year in which a competitor can compete in a particular age group is the calendar year in which his/her birthday falls.  Junior + senior = senior, all rest to youngest category.


Entry fees:

R200/paddle; R250/paddle for late entries; R150 for juniors


Closing date: Monday 25 November 2010


Rules: The ICF Marathon Rules with CSA Surf Ski Amendments apply.

             Boats must display CSA race number.
